Earth Matter seeks to reduce the organic waste misdirected into the garbage stream by encouraging neighbor participation and leadership in composting.

FABSCRAP is a convenient and transparent recycling and reuse service that was created to meet New York City’s commercial textile recycling needs. Materials that traditionally would have gone to landfill are now being properly recycled and made available for reuse.

BloomAgainBklyn is a community-based, nonprofit organization which repurposes unsold and once-used flowers into new arrangements which are distributed by volunteers to homebound seniors, local nursing home residents, trauma and homeless survivors, food pantry recipients and other low and moderate income populations.

Project Description
Employees will spend the day participating in a variety of sustainability focused projects to support these nonprofit partners, including:
Building harvest totes and rain barrels for GrowNYC
Participating in an NYC Compost Project workshop to learn about closed-loop compost systems and how to implement one at home and create compost bins for Earth Matter
Sorting and prepping donated textiles for FABSCRAP
Participating in an upcycling workshop, and preparing bouquets of donated flowers for BloomAgainBklyn
